Magical

Tonight As I walked my freshly bathed baby into her room to go to bed she leaned in and gave me three slobbery kisses on my mouth and then layed down peacefully.  I covered her with her two cozy blankets that she cuddled into immediately and then leaned her head over to the left side to snuggle up to her soft bear that I tucked up by her cheek.  Then she quietly watched me turn on the music and whisper "I Love You" and as I walked out the door she flashed me one last grin before the lights went out.  Most nights are not always like that, but when they are, they sure are
Magical...

Books, Movies, and Noses

Adalyn has been loving books lately.  I will often find her in her room "reading" a book outloud to herself in her own little voice.  As a mom these are some of the moments that I cherish and I really hope that she develops a love for reading and books because I know that I sure love them.  Another common sight in our house is Adalyn and I in the living room her playing with her toys on the floor and me on the couch either resting or reading a book.  She does not like to be left alone but I have found that she will play quietly for awhile as long and I am sitting (not cleaning, tried that one already) near her.
This week I have been reading the Ensign (The Ensign is a monthly magazine that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints puts out.  Inside it has faith strengthening articles and news about the church around the world.  Click here if you would like to know more) since the October issue just arrived and Adalyn kept begging me to let her "read" it too.  I finally gave her a older one and she LOVED looking at the pictures and doing the same thing that mommy was doing.

Notice the tears and snot?  Yeah I finally came up with this solution *after* a few tears.  Amazing how quickly the world can fall apart for a one year old. :)

Also (now please don't judge that my child watches TV) Adalyn is now to the point that she will watch a movie for a few minutes.  Before she wouldn't even look up long enough to watch at all and this mama was getting nervous about what I would do on some of those LONG winter days when we can't go outside... But she is starting to enjoy it a little more and it has been fun watching a couple of the old Disney movies that I watched as a kid.

Speaking of entertaining this crazy busy little girl... we had to get a little bit creative the other day and so I pulled out her old bumbo that she really didn't like as a baby and she has loved climbing in and out of it.  (love the wild hair?  Yeah it has a mind of its own)

And last but not least Addie discovered that she had a few holes in her head yesterday at dinner...

First her ear

Then her nose

And last of all her eye

Well there are a few more pictures of the highlight of our lives.  Have a great day!

26 Weeks with Baby #2

Hey everyone hope you are having a great Monday.  I am normally not a Monday hater.  There is a part of me that enjoys getting back into routine and since I no longer work or go to school Mondays aren't that different from my weekend.  But today my house looks like a train wreck since I was sick this weekend (terrible food poisoning) and McKay was/is on a work trip I slacked and allowed Adalyn to play/get into anything and everything that her little body could reach and spread all contents from one end of the house to the other while I spent my time with the royal throne.  Can you say toilet paper in the living room (don't know why she loves that stuff)?  But in her defense she was overall very well behaved and I was one thankful mommy.  So please excuse me if I am not super excited about this Monday because in reality I just want to go back to bed and have a redo of the nice weekend that I was hoping for.

So today marks 26 weeks of pregnancy bliss.  :)  Ok maybe bliss isn't the right word...  But this pregnancy has overall felt like it is going fairly quickly.  I am much more patient for his arrival than I was for Adalyn's.  Of course I want him to come and I am very happy that he is, but I am also grateful for this time that I get to have with just Adalyn and there is still lots of things that I have to get done before his grand entrance.  Wait... wasn't I just saying in my last post that I was SO excited to have another newborn in the house?  Yes, yes I was but apparently I still have mixed feelings and today I am feeling patient and content with what I have.

Here are a few facts/tidbits about this pregnancy...

-He moves ALL the time.  Kicks me all day.  Right now it is fine, but I am scared for when he gets stronger.
-I still feel great (besides the food poisoning)
-I highly recommend eating smart and exercising during a pregnancy it has made ALL the difference for me between Adalyn's pregnancy and this one.
-All my maternity pants and some shirts are still too big (they are all stretched out from the final weeks of my last pregnancy) My regular pants are starting to not fit anymore and I don't know what to wear?  I wasn't expecting to have to buy new clothes for the "middle" months.
-We think that we have his name picked out (McKay called him by it the other day and so it sounds like that is the name that he has chosen) though there are still a couple others floating around.  I kind of want to wait and see him to see if it is the right name, but I might get impatient and just go with it.
-And as far as we know everything is going well and he is continuing to grow.  We will have another ultrasound here in a few weeks that will tell us more.

Here are a few pictures from last Friday that McKay took for me.  As you can tell he is definitely growing :)

And I didn't take a "26" week pregnancy picture with Adalyn but if you go back to this post or this one you can see a few pictures.  But no I will not re post those pictures.  Once was enough. Definitely not my favorite. :P

Well that is all for today.  Hope you are all having a great week!

Not a baby anymore

Ok I don't mean for this to come across as a clique post about how sad I am that Adalyn is growing up, but it might sound a little bit like that so I am sorry in advance. :)
Many of you who know me, know that I have this intense love of all things newborn.  Seriously melts my heart.  One of my old coworkers (this sweet older woman) that I worked with when I was the infants teacher at a daycare (she at the time was the preschool teacher but our classrooms connected by a huge window, basically think of a fishbowl...) used to tell me everyday that she just loved watching me take care of the babies (creepy right).  She could just tell that I loved every moment of it.  Seriously that was my favorite job.
And all though Adalyn is still very little she is growing out of so many of the "newborn" things and it makes me sad some days.  I seriously almost cried when I realized that she no longer fit into the baby clothes at the store.  I now shop in the toddler section for her.  No more binkies and as soon as I buy more sippy cups she won't have bottles either.  I just packed up all of her baby toys and she no longer needs to be carried everywhere.  My baby is growing up....

Ok thanks for letting me get that off my chest.  ;) I know that it was super sappy and ironic since lucky for us there will be another newborn in our house in about 15 weeks give or take (that also means Christmas is in 15 weeks folks, just thought I would give you that quick reminder in case you want to get a jump start on shopping).  AND if that wasn't enough I have started babysitting a newborn baby boy all day twice a week.  I job share with another friend who does the other two days.  We just started this week and it went GREAT!  Both my friend and I were nervous about how it would go, especially with how our other kids would handle it.  But Adalyn has just proved once again that she is growing up and she loved having the baby here as much as I did.  It is amazing how quickly she has learned to care for babies and she already was trying to hold him, feed him his bottle and give him his binky.  Ofcourse there were moments of her wanting to sit on my lap while I was holding him too.  But overall she was very patient and soft with him.  Hopefully this two day a week "practice" of being a big sister will help her adjust easier for when it is 24/7.  :)
Well that is all for today, promise I have a pregnancy update coming soon (since I KNOW that is exactly what you all wanted to hear about) complete with a new picture that I finally had McKay take for me.  Have a great day!

Weekend in a list

This was a great weekend, I was motivated and we got a lot of things done.
1. Stained baby boy's antique dresser/changing table
2. Cooked lots in the kitchen- I went a little crazy and made a batch of freezer black beans, two batches of banana muffins, fiesta chicken stuffed bell peppers, blueberry breakfast cake, 4 loaves of whole wheat bread, and curry pineapple chicken and rice
3. Finally hung my darling plate rack in the kitchen along with hanging a few other odds and ends
4. Got two awesome "big" girl carseats for Adalyn for a total of $8.  Yay for having a carseat in each car (no more musical carseats)
5. Cleaned both bathrooms
6. Planned two lessons for church
7. Organized Adalyn's toys for the 12th time (we may have landed on something that will work for us instead of them being a pile on the living room floor)
8. Snuggled with my two loves :)
9. Had a fun at Zumba saturday morning with all my old ward friends
10. Watched Elder Hollands talk late Sunday night after Addie went to bed and then stayed up discussing it with husband till midnight.  Good times :)

I am sure loving these productive weekends that we are having and I am especially loving having so much energy.  (P.S. 25 weeks pregnant today!  Thinking about whether I want to be induced or not... opinions?)

Addie's 1 year old photo Shoot

While we were in Salt Lake for Adalyn's Birthday party and Melanie's wedding we had Auntie Heather take some one year old pictures of Adalyn.  I knew it wasn't going to be an easy task since Adalyn is always on the move these days... But we were able to get some cute ones of her looking at the camera and some other cute ones of her little personality.  Thanks Aunt Heather we are very grateful to now have updated pictures of Adalyn to hang on our wall (is it sad that we only had one in our whole house?!)

And I know on this one that it looks like we just let her go out in the middle of the road, but I promise I was right there and it is not a busy road at all. :)  Just thought I would clarify.

We did her whole photo shoot in literally 20 minutes.  I had planned for an outfit change, but didn't even attempt it.  She is SO busy, but the pictures turned out darling!  We love them and we love her.

Oh, and just for fun here is my one year old picture.  I think we have the same hair do.  lol

Thanks again for being patient while I figured out the whole picture dilema.  Have a great day!

Life as a one year old

Here is a quick update on Adalyn, her stats, and the little things about her right now.  I know I WILL forget them overtime so I want to write them down.

At her doctors appointment she weighed 22 lbs (I guessed it before we went in) and I can't remember her exact height but she was in the 98% for her age in height.  (yeah we knew she was tall)

She obviously hated the shots at her doctors appointment, but the nurse quickly pulled out the dum dums and all of a sudden she was just fine (amazing what sugar can do for this girl).  But then on our way out we saw the other nurse that helped give her the shots and Adalyn wouldn't even move, she just glared at the nurse. (haha)  Finally I just picked her up and headed out.

Adalyn has 5 teeth on the bottom and none on top, this is making me a little bit concerned (sure hope she at least has teeth on the top even if they aren't showing yet)

We are totally off on her sleeping from our crazy summer schedule.  Since we forced her on so many days during the summer to only have one short nap a day like when we were camping or at a wedding and so now she feels that that is all she needs.  So now she sleeps from about 9:00pm-7:00am and then has a nap around 11:00am.  That is it, can't believe our baby is growing up.

Her favorite things are baby dolls, pushing strollers or anything else baby related.  She is going to love when we pull out all the baby supplies for this next baby.  Maybe we should buy two of everything...one for her and one for baby boy.

Unlike when she was born she now loves to cuddle with mommy.  She gives the best hugs and now knows how to do closed mouth kisses.  :)  She also loves to sit on the bathroom counter while I do my hair and make up.  She is going to be such a girly girl.

She now wears size 12-18 month clothes and is almost in size 5 shoes.  No more shopping in the baby clothes section for us. :(

No more binkys, and she jabbers non stop.  Today she said la la la... over and over again.  So cute to listen to her figure out how to talk.

Eating...hmmm, not doing too much of this unless it involves sugar or milk.  She enjoys meat, fruit, pasta, graham crackers, and homemade bread.  That is pretty much it.  Funny story, the other day at dinner we were having leftovers and she wouldn't eat anything that we gave her.  Finally I was just holding while I finished eating and she grabbed a piece of steak off my plate and just started chewing the thing to death.  We watched her closely with it since it is definitely a choking hazard but the poor girl just needed something to bite down on (she got three teeth last week).  Guess everything we gave her was too soft...

She loves playing chase with daddy or climbing up and down the stairs.  Singing has always been what calms her down and it is still a favorite of hers.  She hates it when I am on the computer and will always pull my hand away from it.

Basically to sum Adalyn up at this stage I would just say busy, busy, busy.  These last few months of her being the only child should be fun watching her grow and develop.  Being a big sister will be a hard transition for her since she can't even share mommy with daddy, but she will catch on soon enough and then they will be great friends.  Here are a few pictures of her, such a fun stage!

This is her new ride from Grandma and Grandpa that she got for her birthday.  There were literally squeals and screaming involved when we pulled it out of the box.  Needless to say she LOVES it.

Eating corn off the floor with daddy after mommy made a mess cutting it off the cob to freeze it.  She normally doesn't eat vegetables so when she started eating it off the floor I wasn't about to stop her.  Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Oreos are yummy!

She is getting such a big personality, and SO dramatic.  We are excited for her to learn to talk...hopefully less screaming will be involved at that point. :)

Last week daddy worked in town so we got to have lunch with him on a few of the days at the park. Adalyn sat right next to daddy the whole time. She was very excited to see him each time we drove up to the park.

I think I got my pictures to finally upload (in a roundabout way) hopefully it continues to work :)  Have a great day!
