Roasting Hotdogs and Smores

This past saturday we hung out with our favorite couple, Jesse and Natalie, at Natalie's house. We roasted hotdogs over a fire in the backyard. They prepared everything which was SO nice and I loved having a break from cooking. We loved being around the fire, even with the nice aroma that followed us for the rest of the night. :) After cooking over the fire, we decided that we MUST go camping this summer. Lucky for us we already have a wonderful tent, so look forward to amazing posts about that.
After roasting hotdogs we pulled out the Marshmallows for smores. And these marshmallows that we had were HUGE! I couldn't even finish one smore! Thanks McKay for cleaning up after me. :) The night turned out great, it was so fun to hang out and just take a night to relax during this stressful time with finals around the corner. Here are some pics from our fun night! Thanks for reading, have a awesome day!

Sunday Rest

I have really enjoyed Sunday's this semseter. We have not had the chance to go to our parents houses much because McKay has been on call for his job every Sunday. Ofcourse I love going home so that is not the good part, but I HAVE loved just hanging out with McKay Sunday evenings. Our typical Sunday consists of McKay waking up early to go to work for a few hours, then I sleep in for a while longer :) Then we head out for church at one, come home at four and make a yummy dinner together. After dinner is when the activities vary from week to week.
Last Sunday we played a couple friendly games of Monopoly. I killed him both times that we played, and I think it is a reflection of spending habits. I, on the one hand, LOVE spending money and so I built up my hotels quickly and then he went broke when he landed on the first one. McKay, on the other hand, is a saver through and through so he wouldn't build very much and by the time he got up enough courage to build he couldn't build very much because he had already given all of his money to me. :) Here are pictures to prove that I really did beat him...

Yesterday we hung out and watched the disney movie Ratatouille (yes I did have to look up on google to see how you spelled it, but look at it! It isn't even spelled like it sounds) While we watched it, it was pretty cold in our apartment so we had to bundle up in lots of blankets. :) Here is McKay in his blanket "skirt" So Cute!

Well that is all for now, hope everyone had a good Sunday too!

My Beautiful Sister...and a new job?!

Ok so I know this title sounds like I only have one beautiful sister, but that is SO NOT TRUE! I actually have ten to be exact (including sister in laws). Yet this post is about only one of my amazing sisters. Camilla, the fantastic photographer that took our wedding pictures, just did a fun photo shoot with Corinne and the pictures turned out SO GOOD that I had to share. Here is the link to Camilla's beautiful blog that has a few pictures of her up right now www.ciocophotography.blogspot.com The rest will follow later, just like our wedding ones. So hurry up and check it out!

On another note, I would like to share some exciting news in our life. I FOUND A JOB! Just today I got hired on at a local Daycare, and I couldn't be more thrilled. Job hunting makes me WAY too stressed out, and so I am glad to be finished with it for now. I start this great job next week and I will be working with the four and five year olds. I am really excited to be back working with preschoolers and doing what I love most. So now McKay and I have both found great summer jobs, registered for fall classes, and are madly working on finishing up with our classes for this semester. I feel so blessed right now and I am very excited for this summer and all of its adventures. Thanks for reading! Have a great night!

Exciting News!!!

Ok everyone we only have about three weeks left of school. Yay! (no that is not the exciting news) no we did not win a million dollars and no we are not pregnant.(sorry folks) But the real exciting news is... Drum roll please...McKay has done an amazing job at applying for internships since the beginning of time (ok not really, but since August of last year and it sure felt like forever) AND HE FINALLY GOT ACCCEPTED FOR A INTERNSHIP WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING AT USU!!!!! We are SO excited! This is exactly what he needs to get some real life experience before he graduates next spring and is actually sent off into the real world. It is a perfect situation for us and we couldn't be more thrilled. So yes this means that we are now going to be living in Logan for the summer. This is a first for me and I am excited to see this beautiful valley during the pretty monthes when it is not covered with snow. So congrats McKay I am so proud and I am so very excited! The only thing left is that I need to find a job... So that will be what I will be trying to accomplish in the next couple of weeks. Wish me luck! And thanks for reading!

To Do List

Ok so today I have been really productive and I just had to share the exciting news (usually on Saturdays I waste as much time as possible). So here are just some of my accomplishments.
-Ran five miles outside and I even threw in a couple of hills into my training. Yay!
-got dressed (some days this is my only accomplishment)
-went Macey's case lot shopping for the first time
* side note for any of you that don't know about this it is a huge sale that Maceys (the grocery store) has every year and my family usually stocks up on the basics. So I decided to carry on the tradition and now McKay and I have made a HUGE dent into preping our food storage. Yet we do lack a storage room in our apartment and so we had to put most of it under our bed (as shown below)

-While grocery shopping I decided to NOT buy bread, and instead I made some (with McKay's help) It turned out a little small, but looks really good and I am happy with how everything worked out. Hopefully I can keep up with it and then we won't have to buy it.

-I also am finishing up our wedding thank you notes and the last of them will be mailed out monday! Thanks for being patient with us!

-Now all I have left to do today is one homework assignment and start designing my friend's bridal shower invitation and I will be all set and ready for bed. Man it is a good thing McKay has been studying all day or I probably wouldn't have accomplished half of these things.
McKay taking a quick break from studying to pose for my picture. :) Love him

Well thanks everyone for reading my blog, hope life it good!

One year ago...

One year ago today McKay and I "offically" started dating. Twelve months later we have been happily married for almost four months! So in a matter of months we went from this...
first picture that we took together when we were dating

To this...
The day that we got engaged

followed by this wonderful day...
Our Wedding Day 12-15-2009

Finally we have reached where we are today...
Hanging out together over spring break.

It has been an amazing year and if that much can happen in one year, imagine what we could be doing in another twelve months! I have no idea what aventures await us, but I am sure excited to find out.
So in honor of our one year mark, McKay and I went country swing dancing last night for the second time. (The first time we went was our very first date together.) McKay is on the Country Swing Dancing presidency so he had to go to instruct and I just decided to tag along. McKay is really good at it and I am slowly getting better. :)
Right after we finished dancing. It was snowing pretty hard
Outside the fun park where they have country swing dancing every Monday and Wednesday.

Well that is all for today, thanks for reading my blog. Be careful out in this crazy weather (I think it was just hailing!)

Easter Extravaganza

This past weekend was so fun! General Conference was so amazing and I loved hearing all of the apostles and the prophet speak. It was also really cool because my dad's cousin, Rosemary Wixom was put in as part of the new Primary General presidency. (cool huh?) Then, on Sunday my family came up to our house for a Easter dinner and to watch the afternoon session of Conference. It was so fun hanging out with them, and I am so grateful that they were willing to come up since McKay had to work again. Luckly he finished early so we were all able to spend the day together. We ate lots of yummy food and played tons of Trans America. (thanks Betsy for the awesome game)

This Easter was different then most in the past because I did not go to one Easter egg Hunt, I didn't color one hard boiled egg, and I did not have one piece of Easter candy. But it was great because I was really able to focus on the true meaning of this holiday and the wonderful atonement. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!

Happy Easter

Many years ago I was in a sunday school class. I do not remember which one or how old I was, but the teacher giving the lesson gave each person this story. Since that class I have read this story often and it is always such a great reminder of the savior's love to us. The story was in the May Ensign 1992 and it was by Marion D. Hanks. Many of you may have heard it, but here it is anyways.

As Easter time approaches, let me share with you the tender story of an eleven-year old boy named Philip, a Down's Syndrome child who was in a Sunday School class with eight other children. Easter Sunday the teacher brought an empty plastic egg for each child. They were instructed to go out of the church building onto the grounds and put into the egg something that would remind them of the meaning of Easter. All returned joyfully. As each egg was opened there were exclamations of delight at a butterfly, a twig, a flower, a blade of grass. Then the last egg was opened. It was Philip's, and it was empty! Some of the children made fun of Philip. "But, teacher," he said, "Teacher, the tomb was empty." A newspaper article announcing Philip's death a few months later noted that at the conclusion of the funeral eight children marched forward and put a large empty egg on the small casket. On it was a banner that said. "The tomb was empty."

During this special Easter season, let us not forget the empty tomb and all that it means to us and our eternal salvation. Happy Easter everyone!

P.S. I recently changed my blog title from "life as newly weds" to what it is now. If you want to know where I got my inspiration behind it click here. It is from President Dieter F. Uchtdorf's talk during the General Young Women's meeting last weekend. A teacher at the Elementary School that I am working at told me about it and so I read it. It is amazing! And so cute about how he talks about how he and his wife met.
