This is Love

It is amazing in such a short amount of time your main focus can go from this...
To this....
But through all of the ups and downs that we have gone through these past few weeks as we settle into parenthood. McKay still manages to make me feel like I did on our wedding day. The center of his universe. Thanks babe I need it.

First Dress

This little girl is two weeks old today. At her doctors appointment yesterday she weighed 9.1 lbs. So she is not little, but she is healthy and the doctor was pleased with everything. :)

Today I decided to dress her up. We are going to McKay's work party tonight and she must look her best since he has done nothing but brag about her at work. :) Hopefully she will be on her best behavior.

Silly Daddy

McKay is a great daddy. When he gets off work he does everything that he possibly can to help out, including changing the poopy diapers. :) He has been especially helpful the past two days as I have been not feeling well (who gets sick when they are trying to recover from having a baby?...not fun) He loves to play with her and is already taking on the roll of being the "fun" parent. Here are a few pictures of daddy and daughter hanging out together
(yes those are McKay's glasses) It is so fun to watch them together and I can't wait to watch their relationship grow as Adalyn gets older.

I have been spoiled

Today Adalyn is 11 days old and thanks to grandma and daddy it is the first day that I am alone all day with this little girl...
Hopefully we will make it through without too many tears from either of us ;)

Visitors

Adalyn is one popular little girl and lots of people wanted to come visit her. Here are a few of the people who have stopped by for a visit. Thanks everyone for all of your support!
First she met Grandma and auntie Mykelti (they were there the day she was born) It is amazing how much you NEED your mom when you become a mom. So I know that I already said this to her a 100 times but THANK YOU mom we LOVED having you here
Then my dad came to the hospital on Friday of that week to see his first grandchild
On Sunday my aunt Heather and cousin Brady came to visit and take Adalyn's newborn photos. (if you haven't seen them on Facebook yet I will be posting them here shortly) Here is Brady and Adalyn. Sadly I didn't get one with her and Heather, it is hard to get photos of the photographer.
On Monday Great Grandma and Grandpa Fry drove up to our house and spent the day with us
four generations
Last of all on Monday night my other sisters came up for a visit, and ofcourse fell in love with the little cutie

Thanks everyone for all your support and help the first week! It is pretty quiet around here these days and Adalyn and I aren't really sure what we think of it yet :) But it is good to get started on our new normal life.

p.s. The photo of my mom and Brady were taken by aunt Heather. I take no credit for her fabulous work.

Welcome Home Baby Girl

We brought Adalyn home last friday afternoon. My mom and sister were there waiting for us at our house with balloons, flowers, dinner, and helping hands. Checking out of the hospital was quick and painless. They just watched us click her carseat into the base and we were off. Then the real fun began :) Here are a few welcome home pictures...

The Birth Story

August 10th was my original due date and as that day approached it was clear that our little girl was not going to come out on her own by then, but she was certainly still getting bigger. So we decided that it would be best to go ahead and induce me. I went in on Tuesday August 9th around 8pm so that over night they could give me medicine to help dialate my cervix. So we just hung out over night waiting until the medicine had run its corse. That was the most uncomfortable night I had had in a while and the sleeping pill hardly did anything to help me sleep. I was probably just too nervous.

The next morning around nine they checked my cervix and come to find out the medicine had not really helped at all so they started me on pitocin around 10. And it didn't take very much for my contractions to start coming fast and hard...but I still wasn't dilating very fast so I couldn't get an epidural yet. I had a few hours of what I thought were painful contractions, mostly because I only had a minute between each one. Mentally at this point I was tired and knew that I still had many many hours of this. I was crying and very stressed out, I was amazed at anyone who had had more than one child because WHO in their right mind would go through this more than once? I was also feeling very pathetic thanks to the nurse who reminded me as I was crying that the contractions would only be getting worse. Finally around 2:30 I was dilated enough to be able to have the epidual, I was SO excited and my fear of needles vanished completely. Finally I was out of pain and could relax before the real labor started. So we just hung out, watched my contractions on the screen and waited for me to dilate. Around 10:00 pm I was completely dilated, we waited one more hour for her to move down a little more and then I started pushing.

I pushed for about 50 minutes and then at 11:55 pm she was born. :) Her first cry was more of just a wimper, it was so cute. It was at that moment that reality hit, I just gave birth to an ACTUAL baby. :) (I don't know what I expected to come out?) It was a perfect experience and I was on cloud nine. She was a lot bigger than I thought she would be and so I am SO glad that we decided to deliver that day. After showing her off and holding her for a few hours we got clean up and tried to grab a few hours of sleep.

Recovery is going great thanks to my wonderful mom who helped us with EVERYTHING for the first week. Adalyn has been perfect this week and we hope that she continues to stay that way, but we love her SO much that we will take her anyway that she comes. Here are a few pictures of our angel right after she was born...

Happy Grandma
Her first bath
Our new family, so excited for this next chapter in our lives. I know it is going to be a good one :)

Adalyn Pace

Introducing Adalyn Pace :)
8 lbs 13 oz
21 1/2 inches
This sweet girl made her entrance into the world at 11:55pm on Wednesday August 10th. Just in time to be born on her due date. :) After a few hours of painful contractions I got an epidural and was in heaven for the rest of the delivery. It was such an amazing experience and we are in LOVE with our precious gift.

I am DONE talking about this subject

So HOPEFULLY today is my last post talking about pregnancy on our blog. (until the next pregnancy and no I am not even going to start thinking about that!) I mean I think after nine months of it, we are all kinda (or maybe REALLY) sick of it. I KNOW I am. I am ready to start talking about babies, or atleast one really cute baby that I haven't actually seen yet, but I KNOW she is going to be Oh SO CUTE. Trust Me. Maybe for some of you this new topic is not better than the last one, and I say to you... choose a new blog to read.

So one last update for you on my pregnancy and then we can all play the waiting game. Today I am 39 weeks and 2 days. I am not sure what I am dilated to, and frankly I don't want to know because it just puts false hope into my already too hopeful brain. But if you want to know, in my brain I am dilated to a 4 and I am going to go into labor tonight after McKay gets off work. :) I am HUGE and my doctor is planning on me having a pretty big baby. He wasn't clear on what big was but I am pretty sure it dashs all of my hopes of having a 6 lb baby and probably a 7 lb baby too but I think I am going to still hold on to that one for my sanity. I should probably just go put my tiny newborn clothes away now and accept that she will probably not get to wear them. But really that is ok because in my personal opinion of baby clothes they don't start getting really cute until about 6 months.
Right now if she doesn't come earlier I am scheduled to be induced (is that how you spell it?) Wednesday morning of next week. Which is my actual due date and all along I have thought that the 10th was a nice even birthdate so I am happy with that.

McKay has been working so hard lately to work extra hours so that he has some time to take off since he hasn't earned any vacation hours yet (they start the week after on the 16th, almost perfect timing). I don't love that he has to work extra hours because that just extends my alone time at home with not much to do, but I have tried to stay busy. Meaning I make sure I get my daily naps in and I have watched quite a few library movies. Such a hard life right? But as most of us know boredom is almost worse than being crazy busy and right now I would gladly trade those naps in for a little more excitement in my life.

Some of the things that I have learned is like my sister-in-law said, the last month is the worst. I am WAY past what I thought pregnancy was. I look back now and think, wow the rest of my pregnancy was a breeze! I should not have been complaining. I had no idea my body could stretch THIS much, and I don't really think that it should. :) The other day the sister missionaries asked me if I thought I looked cute as a pregnant lady? (they said they thought I looked adorable and wanted to know what I thought) and honestly it has been REALLY hard for me to allow myself to gain weight, because that is usually what I am trying to prevent. But I do look at other pregnant women and think they look cute so I understood what they meant. And I remember back to when I first got pregnant and I couldn't wait till I had a little tummy too. Motherhood is such a sacred and special blessing that not even fathers get to experience in the same way so I am grateful that my body is able to carry such an amazing gift from our father in heaven. So it is definitely worth the sacrifice that we have to make, but I am getting excited about getting back into more exersizing than just walking.

I am nervous for the delivery but after touring the hospital I am confident that I will be ok, even if it hurts...a lot.

I am excited to get to hang out with my mom, family, and husband for a week or so after the delivery and hold my little girl. And I will try to have someone keep this updated with details and pictures for everyone. Well that is all, have a great day!
