This past weekend we went to Lava Hot Springs for a family reunion. McKay's stepmom's family goes there every year in August. They camp right next to the river and the swimming pool so there is always plenty of water activities. We did not go last year since I was in the hosptial having Adalyn (I say that is a pretty good excuse ;) So this year Adalyn got to celebrate her birthday at Lava hot springs.
While there we ate plenty of yummy food (Lots of the aunts, uncles, and cousins are REALLY good cooks so everything was so delicious). Everyone also took lots of trips down the river on tubs. Since I am pregnant and Adalyn is still so young I didn't go down the river or go in the hot springs, but we still had fun at the pool and in the warm waterfall that flows into the river. McKay said his favorite part of the trip was spending time in the river (I liked that it was warm water).
Oh and if Adalyn looks annoyed in a few of these pictures it is because HER favorite part of the trip was running and exploring everything and she hated it when you tried to stop her and take a picture. I am trying to just embrace this phase. So I am promise that she had a great time even if the pictures tell another story. :)
We also enjoyed the pool for a few hours on Friday. We were going to go back after lunch that day, but it started raining and then there was lightning so they closed it and we never made it back. But Adalyn still LOVES water. These days she trys to jump out of our arms and swim. silly girl.
To celebrate Adalyn's birthday I made some cupcakes and we sang to her after dinner on Friday. She wouldn't blow out the candles, but she loved clapping after everyone sang to her. She is a lucky girl to have so many people who love her and spoiled her on her birthday. Maddie was SO excited to give Adalyn her birthday bubbles all day. I am sad that I didn't get a picture of them playing with them. Maddie was so cute with Adalyn the whole time and kept begging me to let her "play" with Adalyn. I can't wait until Adalyn is actually interested in playing with Maddie, they will be such fun friends/cousins. :)
Oh we love her so much! It has been a very blessed year.
On the last day of the trip Mckay's immediate family all got up early and we hiked to the "L" on a near by hill (it stands for Lava obviously). It was pretty steep and I wasn't so sure that my pregnant booty was going to make it all the way. So when we were actually almost there I asked McKay how much farther and he told me that we were about 1/2 way. I was pretty disappointed because I wasn't going to make it that much longer. But then about 200 yards later we turned a corner and there it was. Yay! I did make it. :) So worth it in the end and it ended up being one of the best parts of the trip. McKay carried Adalyn the whole way up and still wasn't out of breath, I need to get his secret because I was dying. :P
It was a beautiful morning after the storm the night before. For the rest of saturday we just dried out, packed up, and ofcourse played in the water some more. Then we drove home that night so that we could be back for church the next day.
It was such a fun trip, but I did tell Liz at the end that I was looking forward to going home so that I could "mentally" rest. I know that sounds strange, but Adalyn is of course super busy these days exploring everything and now that she can walk around so fast you can't take your eyes off her for one minute. So between making sure she didn't go in the road, the river, or someone elses camp site I was pretty drained by the end. It made me very thankful for our baby proof house. (I know I am weird) Well that is all for today, we have one more summer adventure this week and then we are pretty much home bound the rest of the summer. Have a great day!
