Reading

I love reading, I usually go in cycles of reading tons, and then I hit a dry spell and nothing sounds interesting, but eventually I come back around and start reading again.
McKay has been in a reading mood lately and he finally dragged me into it too.  Sunday we sat on the couch next to each other and read for like two hours staight followed by a 2-3 hour conversation of what we were reading (yeah our sundays are pretty layed back right now).
Usually I read only one book at a time and then ofcourse the scriptures. But right now I am reading lots of different things. I am trying to read Jesus the Christ by James E. Talmage before the baby comes, I am also reading Sisters of the Quilt series by Cindy Woodsmall borrowed from my mom, trying to stay on top of the Ensign, and finish the Book of Mormon from a really old goal set by our old stake presidency but I am still determined to finish it.
Speaking of the Ensign I just have to HIGHLY recomend that everyone read the article titled "Defending the Family in a Troubled World" from the June Ensign. It is AMAZING, perfect, wonderful, and so needed in our world today. I have read it a half a dozen times and have found so much peace from it. It really helps you realize just HOW important the family is. SO read it...seriously. :)

It has been so fun the last few days reading lots, and maybe letting a few things that I could have been doing. And I am sure that I will be done reading a few of these books in the next week or so. Any suggestions of good books that any of you have read recently?

  1. The Help...loved it. I don't know if you have read the Hunger Game series, but I'm just getting to it and I can't put them down! If you like cheesy LDS fiction, I love Children of the Promise series. Happy reading!

  2. I second The Help idea, just finished that and liked it. I also just read "Have a Little Faith" by Mitch Albom, liked that one a lot too. Another favorite book is "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society".
