Sleepy Head
Adalyn has been sleeping a ton lately! Not only has she been sleeping through the night for the past few weeks but she also sleeps REALLY well during the day (as long as mom isn't packing her around to a ton of errands) Sometimes she sleeps too well, and I have to wake her up for her feedings. Must be hitting a growth spurt or something. But a side benefit of her sleeping so much is that she is well rested and so pleasent to be around the rest of the time. We sure love our calm and happy baby! Can't believe she will be three months in three days! Have a Great Day!

Adalyn's First Halloween
Happy Halloween everyone! I am not usually a fan of dressing up on Halloween, I am not that creative when in comes to costumes, but this year was fun because we had Adalyn. (I felt like that took the pressure off of me to dress up). For her costume we decided to go with Minnie Mouse and man she was SO cute! We spent the evening going to a few of our neighbors houses to show her off and then headed over to McKay's aunt and uncle's house for a visit. It was a nice relaxing evening, but we are sure excited to be able to take her trick or treating next year :) Here are a few pictures of her in her costume. I think all she wanted to do was go back to bed and sleep so she isn't quite her normal smiley self...

My First Guilt Trip
So it seems like I am sharing a lot of firsts with you guys, but I guess when you are new to parenting that is just want happens. This week is no exception. (sorry)
While I was pregnant I soaked in everything that I could about parenting. I desperately wanted to be "good" at it and I wanted to learn every lesson from someone elses mistake so that I didn't have to learn it myself. (unrealistic, but yet that is what I wanted). Many moms discussed feeling guilty for not spending enough time with their children or not paying attention to them enough. They also expressed the frustration of not being the best mom that they could be. They wanted to do better, love more, be patient, plan healthier meals, etc. I could understand these feelings logically. I just hadn't experienced them until this week. For the past two (almost three) months Adalyn basically demanded my attention when she needed it and then slept for the rest of the time. I felt no guilt, she was happy and so was I. But this week I have been a little busier than normal, gone more, and paying more attention to other things. By no means was she neglected but she was put in her bouncy seat and swing. A lot. She has been an angel baby so she didn't complain about it, until Friday when we were out running errands and she started to cry. It was a heartbreaking cry, and I realized that she had been in her carseat for 6 HOURS straight! (I even fed her a bottle while she continued to sit in it) We were driving in the car when she started crying so I couldn't pull her out for a little while longer, but I practically begged McKay to drive faster while felt the wave of guilt sweep over me. Welcome to mommyhood I thought. That night I decided to rock her to sleep instead of the normal just lay her in bed routine. She "talked" to me for a while and gave me a few of her darling smiles. I loved it, she is an amazing blessing that I have in my life and I hope that I will always remember that, even during the busy times. I ran across this quote from President Gordon B. Hinkley (always go to his talks when I need a little refocusing, they are so good!)
"Work at our responsibility as parents as if everything in life counted on it, because in fact everything in life does count on it."Hopefully I can get my priorities straight this coming week, have a good night! (oh and no nothing is wrong with your eyes, I really did dye my hair last week. Love the color, not such a fan of the cut. Grow hair grow.)

2010 Blog Book
I finally did it! I printed all of my 2010 blog posts into a book and it is beautiful :)
I started this blog right after we got married and I always thought that it was a perfect time to start documenting and journaling about our lives. No need for catch up...as long as I updated it often, which I am happy to say that I have. (journaling on the other hand, not so much). So at the beginning of 2011 I started looking for the right program to use to create this blog book. I started out using the book smart website but their format was different than the blog layout so it was messing up each post and the descriptions of my pictures were no longer by the pictures. Can you say frustrating?! I spent many days trying to fix it, but it just wasn't working the way that I wanted it to. SO I gave up for a few months (or a lot) Then fast forward to about three weeks ago when I happened upon the blog2print website. I downloaded it to my computer and gave it a try, and you know what...it let me keep my posts in the EXACT same order that they were in on my blog. Yipee!! SO a half hour later my book layout was done and it was off to be printed and three weeks later it arrived at my house. It has a hard cover and color pictures. It is the perfect size even though I did have quite a few posts from that year. It isn't super fancy with tons of designs but it has the journaling and pictures and that was all that I was looking for so I am very pleased. Here are a few pictures of it, and I can now say that I am excited to print this years book in a few months! Oh and if any of you were looking to print your blogs I highly reccomend this website. www.blog2print.com Have a great day!

2 months that feels like forever
I can't believe Adalyn is only two months old! It feels like she has been in our family for much longer than that. Last week I took Adalyn to her 2 month appointment. She did really good (up until the shots). She was showing off for the doctor and nurses. They just kept laughing at all of her little faces and movements that she was doing. The doctor asked if she was always this happy and truely she is. She has always been a very happy baby. She weighed 12.7 lbs and is 23 inches long. That puts her in the 80-90 ish percentile. What a chunk! :) She was not feeling well for a few days this past week due to her shots, it was sad to not have her acting like her normal self, but I think things are getting back to normal.
Some things about her at two months:
-Still taking bottles really well (nice if mommy can't feed her)
-Very wiggling, always wanting to kick her legs and move her arms
-She smiles really big when you talk in a high pitched voice or kiss her cheeks
-Gives me a big smile whenever I go to get her out of her bed
-Loves sitting in the swing and being bounced in her bouncer
-Holds her blanket when she rides in the carseat
-hates being hot
-sucks on her hands (luckily not her thumb)
-Hates dinner time because it is the one time that mom and dad aren't paying attention to her. :)
We sure love our little girl! McKay told me the other day that when we have our next child he wants it to be a girl too because they are just so fun and cute. And I said the only thing better than dressing up one girl is dressing up two girls so I completely agree
This past weekend McKay was pretty busy so he didn't get a lot of time to see Adalyn, but when I went into her room on Sunday evening this is what I found. Daddy playing with Adalyn under their "tent"Adalyn was sure having fun playing peekaboo with daddy :)We sure love her! Thanks for reading!

Fall Fun
Well hello winter! I think you came a little early so just back off for a bit and give fall a chance, we REALLY like fall :)
This week was a slight preview of what winter is going to be like in a few months and I have realized that I am going to be staying home A LOT. Taking a baby out in bad weather is not fun and I worry ten times more about her getting sick than I did in the summer. But that is ok I can be a home body and atleast there is still online shopping :) I discovered Etsy this week and had fun checking out all the shops with cute Halloween costumes. And thanks to them I found a cute costume for Adalyn for Halloween! Think Disney :) I also can't wait to see all of your fun Halloween costumes!
Even though this weather hasn't been the most enjoyable thing, it IS going to be here for MANY more months so I decided to find a few positive things about it...
1. Fun holidays are just around the corner. Starting to make Adalyn's Christmas list :)
2. Adalyn gets to start wearing all her cute winter outfits, and I got her another one this week online for all of our holiday parties and I can't wait for it to get here. 3. We get to take Adalyn out in the snow and play. Here she is in her first snow suit and her first snow angel thanks to daddy...4. I get to kiss these cheeks all day, even if we are stuck inside. In other news Adalyn slept through the night for the first time last weekend at grandma's house and has done it a couple times since. YAY! Also tomorrow Adalyn will be two months old, she is getting so big! More on that to come. Thanks for reading have a great day!

General Conference Weekend
As most of you know General Conference was last weekend in Salt Lake City. I had never been to a General Conference at the Conference center before so we decided to go this year. We got tickets from our bishop a few weeks ago and asked McKay's mom if she wanted to go with us. Luckily she was able to come, so the three of us went to the Saturday afternoon session. It was amazing! I can't believe that they fill the entire place up, it was packed! My favorite talk was even during that session (the one about motherhood not being a hobby by Neil L. Anderson) and it was nice to actually be there for it. Adalyn had a fun weekend being babysat by Grandma. My mom and sisters watched her for us while we went to a session at the Salt Lake temple on Friday and she also watched her for us on Saturday when we went to General Conference. She did great both times and it was nice for me to know that she was in good hands :) Thanks mom!
We decided to pull out her I love my auntie shirt and take a few pictures (it won't be long and she will out grow it) These pictures were right after she ate, followed by a huge blowout in her diaper which resulted in a calming bath. She was super relaxed after that. :) Here she is just chilling with her aunties On Sunday we went to McKay's moms house to watch the rest of conference with her. She made us scones inbetween sessions and helped hold Adalyn so that we could actually focus on Conference.
Adalyn got spoiled all weekend and loved being held all day. I am so glad that we have such great family members and I am so grateful to all the church leaders who gave such amazing talks this weekend. Don't you all love the spiritual high that you get after listening to them? I sure do, hope you all have an amazing week!
