16 Weeks- Pregnancy #3

So I thought it was about time that I started my weekly pregnancy pictures.  Here is the first one with baby #3 at 16 weeks...

HAHA!  Just kidding!!  There is no way I would be able to keep up with taking weekly pictures, let alone posting them on here.  :)  But I thought it would be fun I post one in the early stages and then maybe if you are lucky will one later.

With this pregnancy I popped out at 8 weeks (no joke) and the rapid growing just keeps continuing.  I gained a lot of weight in the first trimester especially around the hip region, but haven't gained anything in the last few weeks so I think my re introduction to healthy eating in the 2nd trimester is working.

Honestly this will sound a little self centered, but I am terrified of a repeat of Adalyn's pregnancy (gaining 40+ lbs) since I know how much is involved in getting it off.  Already my dreams of being one of those women who just look like they are carrying a basketball under their shirt are gone, but I am still hoping to only gain the recommended weight gain of 25 ish lbs.  We will see...

Gaining weight this time around is a little harder then I wanted it to be.  I mean I knew it was inevitable I just didn't know how I would react to it after loosing so much weight after having Jensen.  And in the beginning of this pregnancy when people were coming up to me and asking me if I was pregnant because I had "put on a little weight" I felt bad, especially when I was only 9 weeks along!  (Honestly I think 1/2 of the weight was just holiday eating)  But I have come to terms with it and am excited for the pregnancy belly and to see this little one grow.

Ok body image rant is over.  Never to be heard of again....

Oh and while I was taking my "belly shots" the others decided that they wanted in on the action.  So they all went and posed while I took their pictures.  Too cute!

p.s. this. kid.  I have no words to describe what he does to me.  All I know is that I want to kiss his cute little cheeks ALL day long.

Heartbeat

Today I had a doctors appointment.  Shortest one I have had in a long time, but it was also very beautiful.  I heard our little baby's heartbeat for the first time without an ultrasound machine.  At that moment I was one proud mama.  Similar to the feeling you get when your child takes their first step.  My baby is growing!  I have had a lot of doubts this pregnancy and lots of fears that things would just not go right.  I think I have been reading too much about all the things that can go "wrong" that I had forgot just how many times things go right.  So in that moment of listening to the little heart beat I was given the peace that I needed, that things were going well and our little peanut is growing and developing beautifully.  Such a miracle.  Every time.

The rest of today was relaxing and fun too.  McKay was home watching the littles (he had the day off) while I went to the doctors and then went and got a free facial.  I really enjoy Mary Kay products so it was fun to have new ideas on how I could apply my makeup, because honestly I could use all the help I can get in the makeup department.  I think it all turned out well, and McKay was really impressed with the new look when I got home ;) It is fun to feel pretty, especially in the "fat" stage of pregnancy.

Tonight we ran errands, ate dinner, and I found my dress for Corinne's wedding which is no small task when you are pregnant so I am excited to have that crossed off my list of things to do.

Yesterday was my last day of babysitting full time.  Yay!  Babysitting has been a blessing in our lives (most of the time) but the time had come to move on.  I knew I couldn't/didn't want to do 4 kids under 3 full time, so I just decided to quit now and spend some extra time with my kids this summer before the baby comes.  I feel really good about this decision and happy that I have this time with just my kids.

Life is great, busy, and very normal right now, and I am just soaking it up since that darn morning sickness has disappeared this past week.

P.S. Don't forget to listen to conference this weekend!  We will be watching it from our couch at home, and hopefully eating some yummy food.  :)

The End of the Winter of 2014

This winter we were all sick sick sick.  I am not just talking morning sickness, but illness too.  It seemed somebody had something about every other week for months on end.  It go so bad that I really wondered if I was/am doing something wrong.  Was our house not clean?  Are they eating bad?  Not drinking enough liquids? I am still not sure what caused all the sickness, but we hope it doesn't come again for a long time.

The past two weeks have been the worst.  We all had REALLY bad colds.  Currently I have no voice after all the coughing that I did.  One good thing about it was that we all had the same thing, so I pretty much knew how the kids were feeling which helped me guess on what care was needed.  This cold has lasted 11 days and is now just starting to go away.  It is hard to stay away from people and friends for that long, especially when you babysit everyday!

Yesterday I finally took the kids to the doctor and they were given medicine for ear infections.  Neither child was pulling on their ears or acting like they hurt (I think they are pretty mild ear infections), but I am sure after being sick for so long, things just start to build up.  This is the first time they have been on antibiotics this year so I hope it helps clear their systems and they stay healthy for a long time.

While I am not one that wants to put my kids in a bubble, we are going to take a few more precautions to help keep them strong and healthy such as washing hands more (and maybe not so many chocolate chips).   :)

Even with all the sickness the kids have been troopers.  They still sleep fairly well at night and love being outside.  What sweet kids we have!

And here are a few (or a lot) of pictures that just never made it on the blog from this winter...

And I have to say.  As crazy as it was to have them 16 months apart for that first year I think it is going to pay off in the long run.  McKay and I just LOVE watching them interact and play now.  They are so so cute together.  This summer is going to be lots of fun with my "big" kids before the baby comes.

1st Trimester- Baby #3

The whole first trimester I had so many thoughts running through my brain that I have wanted to share/ write down.  This being my third pregnancy I have been able to compare and contrast it to my 1st two pregnancies and I have learned a lot of things about my body and how it works while pregnant.  It has been very fascinating and very humbling all at the same time.

I loved this pregnancy up until my 6th week lol and then I crashed and burned.  It was ugly.  I was in an ugly place and I felt terrible for being there.

But let me back up a little bit to where I started out this pregnancy.  The last two trimesters of my pregnancy with Jensen were unreal for me.  I felt amazing, I had no swelling, very little pain, and had the energy of a 12 year old.  I thought I was pretty awesome.  I thought wow! pregnancy can be great, even easy if I just eat fairly well and exercise often.  Jensen's first year was a great one for me too as I reached my weight goals and really took control of my health.  I knew I didn't have it all figured out, but I thought I was doing a pretty good job at handling life and its challenges.  Well at the end of last year I knew we might get pregnant again soon so I started thinking about that nasty morning sickness stuff and I did a little research and came across these 2 blog posts.  Their recommendations are similar and so I began following their advice religiously... about 1 week before I got pregnant.  I was using magnesium oil, taking fermented cod liver oil, etc.  Well if you read their advice they say do all of those things for serveral months BEFORE you get pregnant.  So it didn't work for me.  6 weeks came and I still got sick.  I was sick all day and all night.  No throwing up, but nausus, hungry, and super tired.  ALL THE TIME.

I had to eat every 45 minutes for the first several weeks.  I felt really bad for eating so much at first, but I soon realized that it was what my body needed.  Honestly I think my body needed to gain a little extra weight this time in order to grow a healthy baby.  So I stopped stressing and just tried to not get too out of control (haha, just read the next sentence to see if I got out of control. lol).  Now the only thing I feel bad about from the first trimester is what I ate.  Lets just say we ate out several times a week for those first few weeks.  BAD!  Mostly it was at lunch time when I just needed to get out of the house, yet it was too cold to just go outside.  The kids loved it and definitely got their fill of French fries.  Today we are back on track with better eating and I hope to not gain so much this next trimester.

But I have to say the most humbling part of my first trimester was the prenatal depression that came with it.  I was pretty down on life, myself, and my situation.  I would describe it at being numb.  Nothing really made me happy during those months, and I was pretty discouraged about my situation.  I mean here I was supposed to be happy that we were having another baby and I could hardly appreciate the kids that I already had.  I had no ounce of creativity either.  I would look around my house and wonder where in the world I ever got the motivation to decorate it?  I wondered why I ever even liked pinterest :) and I did not try one new recipe for several months.  Cleaning, organizing, and doing activities with my kids were all very low on my priority list.  Looking back I realized that I had to same symptoms with my first two pregnancies I just didn't categorize it as prenatal depression.  Thankfully it only lasts through my first trimester, so it was short lived, and I was able to come out of it in the last few weeks.

I feel the creative juices flowing again, even if the pregnancy hormones are right there with them :)

After having these not so fun feelings, emotions, etc. for a few months.  I am truly humbled at what women have to go through to bring children into the world and some women do it over and over again.  My pregnancies are hard for a few months but there is a light at the end of the tunnel once the 2nd trimester kicks in.  But some women struggle day in and day out for 9 months and some even for several months afterward.  It is a hard thing to be grateful, Christ like and charitable when you feel so sick. Thank you for all of your great examples that were inspiration to me as I had a few rough months.  :)

Anyways, moving on from me.  The baby is doing great so far.  I was SO worried at each one of my check ups as I know things can happen so easily in those first few weeks.  My first appointment was on valentines day.  I was 9 weeks and they did a ultrasound to make sure everything was going well.  With this pregnancy I switched from our family doctor to a midwife so I had never had an appointment/ultrasound so early on and was pretty excited to see the baby.  I told the ultrasound tech that I was pretty nervous to see how everything was going.  So right off the bat when we saw the baby she yells out I see a baby and a heartbeat so all is well! LOL It was very sweet of her to calm my fears so quickly.  :)

My 2nd appointment was March 14th and I was about 12 weeks (they keep changing my due date so I felt like I was 12 weeks along for about 2 weeks).  They tried to find the heartbeat, but the baby wasn't having it so once again I got an ultrasound.  Waiting for that ultrasound was tough since of course I was worried something was wrong, but once again all was well and the baby looks great.  So grateful!

We really are so happy to be having this next little baby!  Even with all of the sickness thrown in.    McKay has been so helpful and never complains when he is asked to help all the time.  He has even had to stay home from work a few days when the kids are sick and it is just too much for me to handle on my own.  We are in this together and heaven knows we are both going to have to work a ton as this new one arrives.  3 kids 3 and under are going to be a lot of work!

Heres to a great 2nd trimester!  It is spring so how can it not be great?  :)

Surprise! Or maybe not so much...

Guess what!?  Baby #3 is on its way!  We are thrilled and so excited for this new little addition and Adalyn and Jensen want to show you all about it...

Did we surprise you?  No?  Well no worries because no one else was surprised either.  All of our family members already knew before we told them and friends have been asking/hinting for the last month or so.  Not quite as much fun when people are coming up to you and asking you if you are pregnant instead of you announcing to them.  Apparently I need to suck in a little more. ;)

But none the less we feel very grateful to have another little spirit joining our family.  I am 13 weeks and very excited for the sickness to go away.  First trimester has felt like an eternity!  lol
3 kids 3 and under will soon be my reality. :)

Throwing Rocks

The kids had a daddy weekend this weekend.  I went to my first ever winter campout with the Young Women and McKay stayed home and watched the kids.  It was his first time ever having to watch the kids for a full 24 hours on his own.  I was excited for him to experience it, yet it didn't even phase him and I am pretty sure I would have to leave for a whole week or two before he would get tired.  The guy is a machine I tell ya!  When HE goes out of town I have small panic attacks the whole week before just thinking about having to be alone with the kids for that long.  Although the house was a disaster when I got home which is pretty unusual for him (usually he has it spotless when I get home) so maybe it did phase him a little bit. :)

But I am glad all was well when I got home, and that it was 50 degrees on Saturday afternoon.  So lovely!

Then Sunday came with 9 am church, throw in a time change and it was brutal waking up in the morning.  3 1/2 hour naps were in order after church.

Here are a few pictures of the kids racing daddy down the driveway after church and throwing rocks into our ever growing rock pile.  Like I said, the weather was so nice!  I wish we had gone on a walk that day, but by the time naps were over we weren't quite feeling up to it.

In other news, we took Jensen's binky away this weekend.  The boy had gotten pretty attached to it over the last few weeks so his adjustment to life without a binky has been a little more rough then Adalyn's was (we took hers away right at 12 months and she did great and adjusted super fast).  But on the bright side he actually sleeps better at night now without it so that makes up for the few minutes of fussing at nap time.  Sorry buddy, growing up can be hard!

And while the binky is gone the blanket is not.  He loves these swaddling blankets and has taken to sucking it when he needs a little extra comfort.  Kids do weird things!

 Happy Tuesday!

What you can learn from Despicable Me 2

Well hello.  I am happy to be writing.  The past couple of months I have been feeling pretty down and not very interested in doing much.  Every aspect of life seemed a little overwhelming so not a lot of picture taking or blog writing has been happening.  I was being pretty ungrateful and little whiney, but after a few weeks of being pretty sick with the stomach flu we are slowly pulling out of the fog and coming back to reality.

So today I snapped some cute pictures of the kids and tried to appreciate the beauty/cuteness around me.

So grateful that kids are so forgiving.  They love us even when we don't give them our best.  This week I have tried to give them my best and we have all been happier because of it.

Trying on mom's boots.  This girl is all about wearing mom's clothes these days.

Oh and what can you learn from Despicable Me 2?  Well Adalyn is slightly in love with the movie.  None of us had even seen the Despicable Me movies until a couple months ago when Jensen was given the movie for his birthday.  Adalyn fell in love with it and asks every day to watch it.  Personally I don't see any point it watching those movies because their is a lot of mindless/dumb violence and a very shallow plot.  But today I discovered that there is some cuteness that can come from the movies.  Yesterday McKay taught Adalyn the poem that Agnes quotes about a mother in the movie and it definitely melts my heart when I hear her say it.   :)

If you haven't seen the movie here is a clip of it.  Skip to about 1:30 to see her "toast" to her new mom.

McKay and Adalyn's version has him saying one line and then her saying the next.  I tried to get it on video but she was pretty quite during it so it is hard to tell what she was saying.  But this is how it goes...

McKay: She Kisses my boo boos
Adalyn: She Braids my hair
McKay: We love you mothers
Adalyn: Everywhere (eewhere)
McKay: My mommy Kajsa
Adalyn: Is beyond compare.

Beyond compare is my favorite part :)

Oh and she was quoting it for me while she was eating spaghetti.  Cutest messy face ever!

Thanks McKay and Adalyn for making me feel so special.  I love you!
