McKay's First Father's Day

So I am kind of proud of myself this year (wait isn't this suppose to be about McKay, yes we will get there) because I actually PLANNED his Father's Day stuff in advance.  Usually for holidays like Valentines Day (planned that one the day of), his birthday (also planned that the day of and got him a lame gift, see a trend yet?), and Father's Day I forget and then remember the day before and try and throw something together real fast at the end.  So this time I planned in advance and bought most of the things we would need that day the week before.  We were out of town the weekend of fathers day and didn't get back till late Saturday night, but thanks to my planning it was still a nice day.  That weekend we were able to see both of our dad's and wish them Happy Father's day.  We gave them jars of peanut m&ms with a cute saying on them that most of you have probably seen on pinterest.  I was just proud that I was somewhat creative and made their gifts.  :)

For McKay's special day (his first REAL Father's Day) I made a special breakfast of eggs, muffins, and fruit.  Later after church I forced him to take a nap with me.  He usually tries to avoid them on Sundays, but I knew that he would enjoy one after the crazy weekend so I forced him to indulge in one just that once.  I SHOULD be more like him and do more "uplifting" things on the Sabbath, but I usually end up taking a nap, it just feels TOO good.  After our nap I made a dinner of ranch potatoes, bratwurst off the grill, and cooked carrots.  It was delicious!   After dinner we gave him the "little" card that we  I made for him.  It was a traditional candy bar card, but he still loved it and has been enjoying candy for the past few weeks.  It was nothing big, but McKay hates spending money on himself and since we have been doing plenty of that lately (the spending money part) I thought I would do something fun but cheap.  It was perfect.  Here is Adalyn showing him the card.  oh and by the way HE requested this picture so he must have liked the card a little bit :)

Adalyn and I sure love him. These past few months I have been thinking a lot about how great we are able to work together. We actually parent very differently (mostly because I am a girl and he is a boy) but we have started figuring things out more and I can appreciate his way of parenting. Can you say rough housing :) But I am very grateful for him and I know now more than ever that he is the man that I am suppose to be with. I love our similar goals and views on life. He supports me in anything that I want to do, and I am try to be a supporting wife to him. Man it is sure a lot of work and I probably couldn't be this chipper about things everyday. :) But life is really good and I am sure grateful that he is the one by my side. I love you McKay! Have a great day!
