Camping at Jefferson Lake

Our summer schedule is pretty packed this year and not a lot of down time on the weekends. So when I realized that we had a free Friday night this past weekend I started thinking about fun things that we could do. When McKay got home I ran my ideas past him and then let him have the final choice. Ofcourse he wanted to go camping so we packed up the car and headed to a near by lake. It was going to be Adalyn's first camping trip and we were excited/nervous to see how she would do. ALL spring I have been hoping that Adalyn would be walking by the time we went camping because I just didn't like the idea of having a crawling baby in the dirt. Well she learned to walk the day AFTER we got home. lame. She had been taking steps for a few weeks now, but still crawled most of the time. Well on Saturday she finally figured out how to stand up without holding on to anything and apparently that was the kicker because she has been walking all the time since. She LOVES it and has spent the past few days doing laps around the house. It is amazing how fast they can learn things! Can't believe my 10 month old is a walker, they grow up so fast. :) Well back to camping at the lake. Friday night we set up camp (or McKay set up camp) I just tried to keep Adalyn out of the red ant piles that were all over by the lake. She LOVED the rocks and she just kept picking them up and setting them down over and over again. Oh and she got very dirty. :P
After setting up we decided to stick our feet in the Lake. I was amazed at how clean the water looked and it felt very nice and refreshing since it was a pretty hot day. The water was cold, but Adalyn loved it! She tasted MORE rocks and splashed mommy and daddy.
And here is a video of her enjoying the water...
Later that night we built (again I mean McKay) a fire and roasted smores.  It was Adalyn's first time eating a marshmallow and man she REALLY enjoyed it.  This is her version of a smore :)

Hanging out by the fire
Then we put the crazy darling to bed and hung out by the fire for a while longer. That night I was alittle bit worried about how Adalyn would do sleeping outside, but she did AMAZING! Better than she does at home sometimes. It got really windy that night and the tent flapped in the wind and it was LOUD. I couldn't sleep for more than maybe two hours total, but Adalyn slept like a rock the whole night all tucked under her favorite blankets. I won't lie, I was jealous. Mama was pretty tired the next day. But we made it through and I am glad she was so well behavied. The next morning it was too windy to really cook much so we just ate muffins and more smores, took a walk around the lake, and packed up to head home.
This is seriously my favorite picture from the whole trip, love that grin. She was so excited when she woke up that we were still camping. ha ha Once we got home it was back to work on the sprinkler system and getting rid of weeds, but good news the sprinkler system is done and we are getting grass VERY soon. Yay for progress! Oh and I do plan to update more about our exciting news from the last post. Thanks for all of your sweet comments on Facebook. We are thrilled to be adding to our family and feel so blessed to have this sweet miracle in our lives. Have a great day!

  1. Looks SO fun! We just went camping last week in Manti to see the Pageant & it was a rough night of sleeping for me too... I guess we're just too pampered or something! Glad you guys were able to go out & make some family memories though. What fun!
