The Baby Room

As you all saw in the preview before the quilt that my sweet mom made was the inspiration for our little girl's room. If you don't remember or are new to our blog here it is again...
The quilt has a lot of colors on it and patterns so I choose to focus on three for the rest of the decorating red, green, and yellow. These are some bright fun colors and finding the perfect blend of all of them (meaning not too much of one color) was probably the most difficult challenge for me. Wait, to be honest the whole room was pretty much a challenge for me, but I think that is because I left some of the harder details for the last minute and my brain DOES NOT WORK. Thanks McKay for helping me through because I would just sit and stare some days with no inspiration coming to me.

So here is a run down of how everything came together, if you don't want to hear the whole story feel free to skip down to the pictures. :) When we found out that we were pregnant we knew that we didn't want to try and afford everything brand new. So I choose the most important thing to me, the carseat, and that is the only peice of baby equipment that we bought new. The crib we got from my aunt and uncle, which I love it and was so excited when they were willing to sell it to us. Since it was white we decided that that was the color we would go with for all of the nursery furniture. So here is the final product of the crib.
the crib skirt is yellow gigham which usually in my mind is a dated look but I think it is very cute in this case and goes with the crib well. We tried bumper pads but they didn't fit on our crib very well and I was worried about how loose they were so we just went without, hopefully that will be ok!

Once we found out that we would be moving to Idaho we quickly started looking on KSL for the rest of the furniture. Tragically they don't have KSL classifieds in Idaho and seriously you can get amazing stuff on there. LOVE IT! So that is where we bought our amazingly comfortable glider (go in there a couple times a day to just sit in it) and changing table. The changing table was a light wood color so McKay had to sand and paint it white. It is SO sturdy and works as the dresser (tons of storage) and changing table. Here are the finished products for both the changing table and the dresser.
Then when we realized that we were going to be living in a two bedroom apartment instead of a three bedroom we needed the baby room to double as a guest room. So we luckily were able to get a bed from McKay's mom for free and even though in is now a pretty tight squeeze in her room it is nice to have a place for guests when they come. (and don't worry if you come to visit you wont have to sleep with the baby in the same room) And for the bed I got the bedspread from Target when it was on sale. The green matches perfectly.
So after we got the furniture all we had left was the walls (hence the hardest part left for last). I wish that we could have painted the walls because color would have added SO much and would have looked amazing with the white furniture, but alas we are renting and painting was NOT an option. So I just tried to add as much color to the walls with decorations. For the wall above her crib I could not come up with anything that I felt comfortable having above her head. I was terrified that she might pull on it or it might fall on her. So I left that wall blank for safety reasons. On the back wall I got this vinal saying,
Then we added picture frames around it that we will put pictures in of her once she gets here :) Here is the view of the room from the door way you can see the saying and frames at the back. I know kind of tacky without pictures in the frames yet...a
For the last wall above the bed we bought some shelves at a garage sale and I had McKay paint them yellow. Deciding what to put on them took me FOREVER. I think I like how they turned out, but who knows they might change one of these days. The first one I decorated with red flowers and a cute yellow butterfly. Above it I put a picture of the temple (that was a must on McKay's list for the bedroom).
On the second shelf I put scrapbook paper over white letters to spell her name. The name that we are 99.9% sure about (McKay started calling her this already and hence everyone else has too) is Adalyn Pace (Addie for short). So since we are pretty set on it I felt ok about making it permanent on her wall.
Well that is it. I am so glad that we got it all done and I think it turned out pretty cute for my first nursery (so don't pop my bubble if you don't agree) Have a great day!

38 Weeks

Hey everyone, no baby yet. :( I was 38 weeks yesterday. So less than two weeks for her to choose to come out on her own or she will be evicted. :) sorry baby girl but your parents are just too excited to meet you.

I can't believe she is almost here, and I don't think reality has quite sunk in as to how much our lives are going to change once she gets here. But ready or not it is time. We are SO excited to be parents and begin our little family.

The last few weeks have been slow, not because time is moving slow, but because I am. :) Waddling might be a good word for it... I can't stand for too long and bending over is almost impossible. Luckily though I occasionally get spurts of energy so a few things are getting done. Such as the baby room, I finished it tonight so pictures will be up soon! Can't believe it took me SO long to finish!

Well before I start to ramble too much (oops I already did) I had better just end this post, check back soon for pictures! Have a great day :)

Our First Visitors

Last week my sisters all came up to our house for a visit. This was the first time that we had anyone stay over at our apartment since we moved in so they got to try out the guest bed and I had fun showing them the sights around town. The weather was perfect all week and it was so fun to get out and about. While they were here we had fun shopping, eating out, watching movies, playing lots of frisbee golf, feeding the ducks at the river, and visiting the visitors center at the temple. I especially enjoyed the entertainment during the day while McKay was at work since my days are usually not too exciting around here. They sure did help the week go by faster! So thanks Larissa, Corinne, and Mykelti for the fun visit and for driving all the way up here :) Here are a few pictures from our adventures...
Well that is all, have a great day!

I love my husband...I really do :)

So the other day my mom and I were talking on the phone and we were discussing when we each thought that this baby should come (you know if by some crazy reason we got to decide when she came, doesn't happen that way but it is still fun to dream about...and I do, a lot these days) Anyways back to the story... I said my ideal day, which changes daily depending on my mood so I don't even remember what I said. She said what day would work best for her schedule since she is being amazing and coming to stay with us for the first week. I think she said the first week of August. Which I am great with because that is still before my due date.

So later that night I decided to ask McKay what day he would like. Hoping for him to at least say a day that was BEFORE my due date (We are talking the IDEAL day here, not what will ACTUALLY happen. I mean he lives with me, can't he SEE how misrable I feel sometimes and how I long for the day that I can actually sit up straight without cutting off circulation to my feet?) But no he chooses the 12th of August two days AFTER my due date. So me, trying to stay calm ask him WHY he choose that day. He then proceeds to tell me that it is actually a very selfish reason (McKay selfish? in what world?) He wanted her to come as late as possible because he wanted my attention all to himself for as long as possible...I think we might have some jealously issues (and I thought you didn't get those until the second child comes) You think I won't pay any attention to you once our cute and cuddly baby is here and I get to play dress up ALL day long? hmm... maybe, just maybe :)

SO in the end I am ok with his answer, he justified it and it was a good reminder to me that even AFTER the baby comes I need to still focus on my marriage. But what he doesn't realize is that he is going to be wrapped around her little finger just as much as me. :) But no matter when she decides to come we are excited to meet her and start figuring out this whole parenting stuff. And thank you McKay for taking such good care of me through this whole pregnancy. Have a good day everyone!

Baby Bracelets

So WAY back when I was 13 (ok so it wasn't THAT long ago) I decided to get into jewelry making. I mostly made bracelets with a few necklaces here and there. So for a few years I would ask for beads for birthdays and Christmases, and I actually collected quite a few. I loved making jewelry for me and other people, and I especially loved making baby bracelets. They are just so cute! But sadly like most of my hobbies I didn't keep up on it and the styles have changed so much since then that I wouldn't even really know where to begin to start making jewelry for myself. But lucky for me baby bracelets still look about the same as they used to and are still just as cute!

When I first found out that we were having a girl I was going to just buy her a few bracelets but the $20 price per bracelet stopped me real quick! Why spend money when I could just make them for free. Yeah mine aren't as high quality but they only wear them for a few months...

So a couple weekends ago I grabbed all my jewelry making stuff from the deep dark storage room at my parents houseand brought it up to Idaho. I knew McKay was going out of town this weekend for work so I decided to have a jewelry making night. The final cost for all of them FREE!!! McKay will love to hear that when he gets back :) And here are the first four that I have finished... Sure can't wait for her to wear them :)
They are so small! But I still don't think she will be able to wear them till she is a few months old. Well that is all have a great rest of the weekend!

Craving

For the past few days I have been craving WATER. I just can't get enough of it and I am drinking about 16-18 cups a day! I especially love ice cold water, and then after I LOVE to eat the ice (I think that is because I am lacking iron and because it is hot outside) It isn't a strange craving and is quite healthy. I do hope my obsession with water is not because I am lacking it somewhere because that would not be good :(. But I went to the doctor today and everything was looking and sounding (the heart beat) great so I am not too worried. Well that is all for today, have a fantastic Wednesday!

Last Month

My due date is exactly 1 month from today. Yay!!! Here I am at 35 1/2 weeks.
So glad that the time is almost here for her arrival and we are basically all ready for her to come. So bake a few more weeks little girl and then feel free to come a few days early :) wishful thinking I know. As far as the pregnancy goes I am feeling as good as you can feel at 9 months in the middle of the summer. Swelling lots, having a few contractions, mood swings, and sleepless nights. She is moving a ton which I am grateful for keeps me from thinking the worst. I am loving our little AC in the window of our bedroom and spend most of my time up there in front of it. The mood swings that I have are so weird to me, because even though my body is acting like it is upset, logically I know that I should not be feeling this way. I just havn't figured out how to tell my body what my brain already knows. So sorry McKay that you have to deal with all of my drama, I hope it isn't too bad.:) Well that is about it, I hope everyone is having a great summer and enjoying the weather. Have a good day!
