Christmas Day 2014

I am almost caught up with all of my 2014 posts.  Just a few more to go!

This year we spent Christmas morning with my family and Christmas afternoon with McKay's dad, mama Liz, and 10 of his siblings.

It was our first time spending Christmas morning at my parents house since we have had kids (the last time we were there we announced that we were expecting Adalyn) so it was fun showing our kids some of my childhood traditions of Christmas Eve and Christmas morning.

The Adalyn and Jensen were excited to open more presents and again, Declin slept through it all.  My family takes turn watching each other open gifts and surprisingly my kids did pretty well with being patient and waiting their turn.

Some of the gifts opened were:

Adalyn- A new doll from Jensen, a cash register from Grandparents, and a few magnetic "paper" dolls.

Jensen- A play shopping cart from Mom and Dad, Mr. Potato Head from Grandparents, and some play tools from Adalyn.  Oh and a Jack in the box that he has been playing with non stop since Christmas (his nursery leaders gave mommy the idea to get him one).  He LOVES it!

Declin- An activity mat from Grandparents and books from Adalyn

Mommy- A Kindle from McKay (I was so surprised!) and a Sewing machine from my parents

Daddy- A new work Calender from me with pictures of the kids (I got him one last year that he loved and so we may make it an annual thing) and the sewing machine from my parents (it was to both of us)

We gave Corinne and Stu a pretty nativity and the movie Maleficent.

We gave my mom new shutters for the outside to replace some broken ones and we gave my dad a microwave for his classroom.

After presents we ate a delicious breakfast and then we headed out to go visit McKay's family.

In Evanston we had a yummy Christmas dinner with turkey, lots of delicious dips, and sweet potatoes followed apple pie dessert.  Then everyone spread out and let the kids play while the adults watched babies and helped milk some goats (not at the same time though...).  Then Christmas evening we opened some more gifts.  Grandma Liz did the Movie Frozen themed gifts along with some pictures of Christ and the Temple for the kids to hang in their rooms.  Grandpa had us all listen to a song about "having enough" to explain why he did NOT get us any gifts.  (lol kind of funny, but a good message to hear).

That night several of McKay's siblings and their families stayed the night and the kids had a cousin sleepover in the living room.

Jensen was not welcome at the sleepover, because with him there would be no sleeping so he slept in his bed in mom and dad's room.  Adalyn was SO excited for the sleepover.  Then she was the last one to fall asleep and woke up SCREAMING in the middle of the night because... she couldn't find her blanket.  Seriously?!  Girl is attached to that blanket!  When she screamed lots of dads came running out of their rooms to see if it was there child.  Nope, just ours who was trying to have her first cousin sleepover.  She spent the rest of the night in our bed.  super comfy :)

Christmas this year was wonderful!  Santa really loved shopping for the kids this year.  He (she) bought lots of fun preschool toys and activities that will hopefully last for a really long time and keep us entertained all winter long!
