So McKay and I spoke on Sunday because we are new in the ward. We introduced our family and then I spoke about Scriptures and Prayer while McKay spoke about living the doctrine. I had mixed feelings about speaking (we have done it a lot lately since we have moved so much) but it is always worth it in the end. Everyone now knows who you are and often comes up and compliments you. Always love those :)I feel better also because they know a little bit about us and where we are coming from. I shared a few personal experiences in my talk and it seems people/ other women can relate and I think it helps those that have struggled with similar things. But most of the comments were from people reminiscing about when they were our age. They remember going to Utah State or when their first child was just 6 months old too. They all said "Oh those were the best days". I completely agree. This stage is wonderful. So full of love, hope, dreams, and excitement. We love Adalyn and it has been such a spiritual and uplifting experience to have her in our home. Each day brings with it challenges, but they are still new and so that kind of makes them exciting. I am sure in ten years we will need new things to get excited about but right now things are perfect.
Our life is no where near what the world would consider exciting and fun, but it is full of joy and peace that will last much longer than worldly pleasures. I am so grateful for a loving heavenly father who has given us families and that I have had the opportunity to have such a great one in my life. Today I ran across this beautiful booklet that this lady with 8 (9th on the way) children made for her grandparents. It has pictures that go along with the Family: A Proclamation to the World. It was such a sweet reminder of the power of families and of the responsibility that parents have to guide them. Love her blog, love her testimony. Click Here to read it :)
I love that Proclamtion book. I actually saw one a couple of years back and thought that would be an awesome present for Grandma for Christmas/Birthday, but I never did anything about it. When you put all your personal family pictures in it, it really hits home. Glad you're having the best time of your lives! :-)
ReplyDeleteUh, I mean PROCLAMATION. Darn spelling errors!
