Ok, confession time, and I am going to warn you in the beginning that this post may not make very much sense but I just want to write my thoughts down so that I can go back and read this when I finally understand the real world and have a good laugh.
So here it goes... Since getting married I have had to begin figuring out the real world and can I just tell you that for a shy and very inexperienced adult that can be a VERY scary thing I mean figuring out what kind of insurance to have to make sure that you have covered your bases while trying to not over spend. Whether to go with this cell phone company or that one, and don't even get me started on dealing with car problems! When our air conditioning was getting fixed in our car I just automatically screened all calls to McKay. I just don't know very much about cars, air conditioners, gas bills, clogged drains, leaky faucets, changing oil, and everything else that adults have to deal with. Every time something happens it is all whole new experience for me.
Also when you get married you have the lovely opportunity to change your name EVERYWHERE! Why can't there just be one I repeat one easy location that you can go to change everything. Nope, you get to go to fifty different places and fill out lots of different forms... Oh and make sure you go to all the locations in the right order or else you might not have the right paper work. Currently my name is changed at some places but not at others. So far I have been lucky enough for it to not cause too many problems but of course I stress over it daily. You may ask why have I not changed it everywhere? For the same reason that I still haven't finished my wedding scrapbook. It is just one more thing to do that is easily put off for the next day. Unfortunately I am amazing at procrastination. Dad I blame you. just kidding. :)
In reality I don't like situations that I don't understand and I hate asking questions when I am confused because I am afraid that it will be a "dumb question". So instead of putting myself out there I just try and avoid things as long as possible. So in the end, I have decided that entering the real world should come with a manual. But since it doesn't I will continue to slowly make my way through it one dumb question at a time. While I was writing all of my frustrations down I was reminded of the quote "don't sweat the small stuff" and the quote " don't put off to tomorrow what you could be doing today" Sounds like I just need to buckle down and just do it... Like ripping a band aid off.
Thanks for listening to me ramble and a special thanks to McKay for being by my side as I learn to grow up and be an adult, have a good night!
Oh and P.S. Tomorrow we are going to the airport to pick up McKay's brother, John, from his mission in Canada. Look forward to a post about it soon!

You're cute, Kajsa. Don't worry about it though. We've all been there. We've all had to figure out the "ins" and "outs" of becoming an adult.......and yes I remember how much of a PAIN it was to change my name........and yes, figuring out insurance is never fun.......and if it makes you feel any better, I don't know anything about cars either!
ReplyDeleteKajsa- I still don't have my name changed at one of my banks because everytime I go in there to change it I seem to be missing something that no one mentioned that I needed before. It's been over a year and we have finally decided that instead of changing my name, we are just going to close the account because it's been that big of a pain. Also, I think that you should keep a record of all of the things you wish came in a manual and then when you get them figured out you should write a book and publish it as "Growing Up: The Manual." I would buy a copy!
ReplyDeleteoh i agree with shantel. write down everything so when i have to "grow up" i have something to read and help me along the way. but i love you and hang in there! if you ever want a break just give me a call and we'll go to lunch!

It is fun to read your blog. I am glad you were a follower to mine so I then found yours. You are so grown up now. It is fun to see what is going on in your life and how much you are learning being married. You are so cute. I hope all is going well.
