Maybe Too Many New Year's Resolutions

Happy New Year Friends!
2013 was a great year for our family.  We really enjoyed being a family of 4 and got to do some fun things last year.  My favorite being our trip to Chicago.  :)

Our Christmas mini vacation ended the year with a bang and all of the fun left my house looking like this...

Scary!

This past week has definitely been catch up time which led to major organization of the kids toys.  I am also back in de clutter mode so we have some boxes going to DI in our near future.  I love de cluttering!

Now with life back under control I am ready to jump into my 2014 New Years Resolutions.

Reaching my major health goal last year was VERY empowering for me.  I am used to being a quitter (don't finish books, school, projects, etc.) so completing that goal was huge for me and my self confidence.  I now actually believe in myself a little bit more and know that I capable of doing hard things.

So this year I was really excited to make some more goals.  As I was writing things down I got a little carried away and ended with 11 goals for 2014.  Maybe a little too much, but I think they are all manageable.  I thought about doing 14 goals for 2014, but I KNEW that was too many.

I even wrote out smaller steps for each goal to help keep me on track through out the year that are posted in my laundry room/mommy's office.

Here are my 2014 New Year's Resolutions...

1. Eat sweets/dessert ONLY on holidays or birthdays.  (probably my hardest goal, but SO important for me to stay on track with healthy eating.  Desserts were just about the death of my healthy eating over the holidays.)

2. Save $10,000 for our Emergency fund.  (yep we are behind on this one, but we are determined to save, save, save this year!)

3. Exercise at least 4 times a week (5 times a week is definitely better, but I have to be realistic)

4. Go to the temple 40 times this year between McKay and I.  But if we go together it only counts as 1 time.  (We have been pretty consistent in one of us going to the temple each week since Adalyn was born, so hopefully we can just continue this goal from last year.  We also have awesome friends and family that watch the kids so we can go together at least once a month too.  So grateful that our stage of life allows us to visit the temple often. )

5. Read 5 Books.  2 Nonfiction and 3 fiction.  (Totally out of the habit of reading books, and want to do better)

6. Make a Cookbook (I have probably 100+ recipes floating around my cupboard that I would really like to get organized into a cook book form.  McKay even gave me the supplies to create it for Christmas so I have no excuses now.)

7. Do Visiting Teaching every month. (Hope I can do it.  I have a great new partner so I am excited to try)

8. Read the Bible.  (Never read the whole thing.  I just have to read 4-5 pages a day.  Hope I don't get behind!)

9. Make an address book.  (Just like the cook book my addresses for friends and family are all over the place.  I want to put them all into one place, even if I just buy an address book from the store and write them all down.  Then I may actually send out Christmas cards next year. :)

10. Go out to eat only on birthdays, valentines day, our anniversary, and one other time each month.  (I love to eat out, but this will limit how much we just run to Wendy's or grab a pizza, since I seem to want to do it every other week.  I also think it will be fun to eat out on our birthdays, which we don't normally do.  I know I will enjoy not having to cook. )

11. Go on a date once a month (we are far from perfect on this one.  I am excited to work a little harder at spending some one on one time together.)

Well there they are!  All 11 of them!!  Hopefully I can stick to them.  But either way I am excited for a fresh start and this new year.

What about you?  Any Goals for 2014?
