So I have a small sneak preview for you of baby boy's room. It is small because not much is finished in there, but not much is going to be finished in there before he comes so I decided to just show you what we have got so far.
WAY back when we learned that we were going to be having a boy I immediately decided on a theme for his room. Colors and all. Big mistake. Always find bedding first/make sure your color scheme is out there BEFORE you decide on the colors. I did the SAME thing with Adalyn's room (you think I would have learned) and it has been a challenge once again to find all of the right bedding/furniture/decorations to match my "dream" room.
But I think in the end it is going to be worth it, because I am LOVING how it is all turning out (even if some of it is just in my head still because of lack of funds). I am also excited that we now have a "boys" room and a "girls" room (that third baby should be a breeze to bring home; all you have to do is throw another bed in the appropriate room).
So without further comments from the peanut gallery I give you baby boy's vintage basketball room...(or at least some of it)

This is the view from the door. The colors we choose for the room are basketball orange (almost like a rust orange), navy blue (go aggies!), and white. Not a lot of blue is showing up yet, but don't worry it will when we add the bedding (thank you Julie for making it), and curtains (my future first sewing attempt). Also there are obviously wood accents. The crib is white like Adalyn's crib in case they ever end up in the same room with future children, we wanted them to at least match.
The basketballs in the corner are the boy version of the cute tissue paper balls. We got all of them from different garage sales this summer for a dollar or less a piece.
This weekend we made the basketball court out of an old wood pallet and a white sharpie paint marker. Normally in our DIY projects I come up with the idea (or find it online) and McKay makes it. Well this time we did things backwards and McKay came up with the basketball court idea and I painted it. Kind of fun to switch things up every now and then! The basketball court is even the actual measurements of an NBA court scaled down to size, thanks to my engineer husband. :) Here is a close up (McKay is VERY proud of this, and I definitely have to agree that it was a cool idea)

The other corner isn't quite as exciting yet. The letter on the wall is a *possible* name choice though we still haven't narrowed it down completely (still want to see him first). The chair is Adalyn's old one and I love it SO much I wish I had one in every bedroom in my house I LOVE sitting in it that much. The dresser/changing table was McKay's special project and I wish that I had taken a picture of it before he refinished it. But it was a beautiful piece of work/junk that needed A LOT of love and care. McKay convinced me to buy it, but then he did all of the work of refinishing it. I like that it adds to the vintage feel of the room.
Well that is about it for now. It isn't much yet, but it is clean, his closet is organized, the drawers are stuffed with all of those cute little 0-3 month clothes that he will out grow in weeks and the carseat is ready to be put in the car. We can't wait to meet this little man! (two weeks!) Have a great day!
I like your basketball court art! Jacob will be thrilled to know you're thinking of naming your baby after him! (haha...I realize J could stand for a lot of different things!)
