Another fun thing that happened this weekend is we tried out a cheap date night tradition that my parents used to have. Back in their college days, before I was even thought of, they would have date nights where they would make koolaid, pop popcorn and watch a movie together. So we tried it out and it was a very tasty and cheap date. We watched Remember the Titans , a personal favorite of mine, and you can't go wrong with Densel Washington. :) Overall it was just a really fun and relaxing night for us together after McKay's busy week with homework. (I would say mine was busy too, but my week really wasn't all that stressful).
The yummy popcorn and Koolaid! (Thanks McKay for letting me eat most of it)
So thanks mom and dad for the fun and cheap date night idea. By the way we are looking for more cheap date night ideas, so if you have any, send them our way. Thanks! Speaking of cute date/romantic ideas, I found the other day a blog meant specifically for this topic. It is called Love, Actually and it has tons of cute ideas. Check it out!
Well that is all for tonight, except I did want to share this random fact. Exactly 12 years ago today, Feburary 28th I was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I was eight years old and so proud. It was a wonderful experience and has been the guide to my life since. I will always cherish that day forever! (click here if you want to know more about my faith)

This is me on my baptism day with my dad 12 years ago. Thanks again for reading my blog. Have a great night!
Justin and I walked up and down Main Street a lot and that was tons of fun. We also took the laptop and watched movies in the middle of a field after we flew kites. Picnics up the canyon. Colored pictures for each other. Building a tent in the living room is fun. making cookies. feeding the ducks. coloring easter eggs. Ooo, we played carnival games like pin the tail on the donkey and stuff which is totally childish but it was lots of fun. Scrabble was also a favorite.
ReplyDeleteI hope that helps!
One idea that comes to mind right away that we did one time was to have a progressive dinner throughout your house... You could start with an appitizer outside (in warmer weather), then have a salad in the Living Room, have the Main Course in the Kitchen, then end with dessert in the Bedroom. Kinda fun.
ReplyDeleteAnother fun thing we did once was to set up a Minature Golf game at home. I just got some styrafome cups, some small balls & some spoons, & set up our own course down ramps, around obstacles, & down the stairs. The cups are the "hole" (which I numbered so we went in the right order) & then you hit the ball with your spoon (you can either hold the spoon in your mouth & get down on the floor and hit the ball with the spoon that way for a challenge, or you can just hold the spoon with your hands). Another thing we did once was to go bowling with milk jugs... This takes quite a bit of planning ahead of time because it takes awhile before you have 10 milk jugs saved up (you could always have neighbors save them for you as well), and then we just used a basketball to "bowl" with. Works good outside.
Also, hikes or scenic walks are always fun & cheap (but maybe it's a little cold right now to do that!).
